Magnesia Carbon Brick Introduction

Magnesia carbon brick, as a composite refractory, uses high-purity magnesia powder, carbon materials (including graphite) and tar pitch or resin as raw materials. It has excellent slag erosion resistance, slag permeability, thermal shock stability and thermal conductivity.

Magnesia Carbon Brick Characteristic

Magnesia carbon brick effectively makes use of the strong slag erosion resistance of magnesia and the high thermal conductivity and low expansion of carbon, and compensates the biggest disadvantage of poor spalling resistance of magnesia. Magnesia carbon brick is a unburned refractory made of high melting point alkaline oxide magnesium oxide (melting point 2800 ℃) and high melting point carbon materials that are difficult to be infiltrated by slag, adding various non oxide additives and combining with carbon binder. It is made of high-purity magnesia powder, carbon material (including graphite) and tar pitch or resin as raw materials, after batching, hot mixing and molding, and then baked at about 300 ℃ or above 1000 ℃. In order to inhibit the oxidation of carbon in bricks, aluminum, silicon, magnesium and other metals or boron nitride are often added, and the addition amount shall not exceed 5%. It is mainly used for lining and tapping port of steelmaking and oxidation converter, hot spot of furnace wall of high-power electric furnace, lining of refining furnace outside the furnace, slag line of steel barrel, etc.

Magnesia Carbon Brick Application

Magnesia carbon brick has good high temperature resistance, strong slag resistance, good thermal shock resistance and low high temperature creep.
In industry, magnesia carbon bricks are mainly used for steelmaking alkaline open hearth furnace, electric furnace bottom and furnace wall, permanent lining of oxygen converter, lining of nonferrous metal smelting furnace, high-temperature tunnel kiln and cement rotary kiln, furnace bottom and furnace wall of heating furnace, lattice brick of regenerator of glass kiln, etc. It is mainly used for lining and tapping port of steelmaking oxidation reformer, hot spot of furnace wall of high-power electric furnace, lining of refining furnace outside the furnace, slag line of steel barrel, etc.
